ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT :- The Department of Commerce has been one of the major departments of the college in terms of student strength since its inception. Established in 1982, the department has consistently led the way in nurturing many distinguished individuals. It has played a pivotal role in catering to the educational needs of not only students from urban areas but also a significant number of students from economically disadvantaged and underprivileged communities in the rural villages surrounding Dharmavaram.
GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT:- The institution was initially established as a composite college offering undergraduate courses, with a sanctioned intake of 80 students for the B.Com (General) program. In response to evolving trends and the growing demand resulting from Liberalization, Privatization, and Globalization, the B.Com (Computer Applications) course was introduced in 1998 as a self-financed program with a sanctioned strength of 50 students. Starting from the academic year 2023-2024, the institution has further expanded its offerings by introducing a B.Com Major in Computer Applications with Sanctioned intake of 40 students.
ESTABLISHMENT OF COMPUTER LAB :- After the introduction of the self-financed course, B. Com (Computer Applications), in 1998, a Computer Lab was set up with 30 computers and a projector. In the academic year 2023-2024, the lab was further upgraded with the installation of 10 new systems featuring the latest versions, along with an internet connection to enhance the learning experience.
STUDENT COUNSELLING AND WARD SYSTEM :- All the staff members are actively involved in student counselling and in charge of a particular class for the purpose. Care and sympathetic attention are being paid to the problems of the students with, affection and attention.
